R&D tax claims

R&D tax claims tracks every project that could qualify for R&D tax relief, from Flowstate’s first suggestion to the credit arriving. Flowstate suggests claims, drafts each one’s technical narrative from the project’s evidence, and costs it from effort. You review and approve it, file it with your adviser, and record what came back.

Flowstate doesn’t file claims for you. You or your adviser file with HMRC, the IRS or your tax authority, then record the outcome here.

Where: Finance → R&D tax claims. Ask your Flowstate contact to switch it on. If you don’t have access to financial figures, you won’t see spend or credit amounts.

Prepare a claim, start to finish

  1. Set up R&D claims — your framework, the eligibility scan, and who approves.
  2. Review suggested R&D claims — accept the ones that qualify.
  3. Build an R&D claim — check its costs, set its deadline and finish the narrative.
  4. Approve and submit an R&D claim — approve it, file it, and record the credit.
  5. Export an R&D claim pack for your adviser.

Overview

Everything not yet filed: suggestions, drafts, claims in review and approved claims.

FigureWhat it shows
Potential claimableEstimated spend on every suggested claim in the period
Likely returnThe range of credit you could expect on suggested and in-progress claims
In-flightSpend on claims that are in draft, in review or approved, and how many
Claimed backCredit recorded on claims that have been filed
Due soonClaims not yet filed whose deadline is in the next 6 months
  • Period opens on your current fiscal year. Fiscal years don’t always line up with the period you pick — a UK claim runs April to April — so a claim shows when most of its fiscal year, or most of your period if that’s shorter, falls inside it.
  • Group by fiscal quarter, stage or jurisdiction, and Filter by stage or jurisdiction. To hide suggestions, use Filter → Suggestions → Hide suggestions.
  • Select a row to open the claim.
