Senior / Staff Data Engineer
Own the data layer that makes Flowstate the single source of truth — pipelines, transformations, modelling and the infrastructure beneath it all.
The role
You'll own the data that powers Flowstate — pipelines, transformations, modelling and the infrastructure that ties it all together. You'll work closely with product and engineering to make sure the right data gets to the right place, reliably and at scale.
This is a full-stack-minded role. You'll spend most of your time in the data layer, but you'll be comfortable jumping into TypeScript when needed to wire things up end-to-end.
You'll be one of our first US-based engineers, working closely with the founding team in London and our growing New York presence. You'll have direct access to US enterprise customers and the data challenges that come with them.
The profile
You are commercially minded, technically curious and comfortable with ambiguity. You've worked in startups before and know what it takes to move fast without cutting corners where it counts.
You've worked with data platforms before and understand their intricacies — the joys of schema evolution, the pain of late-arriving data, the art of making messy sources behave.
What you'll bring
- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines in production
- Strong SQL and a solid understanding of data modelling for analytics and application use cases
- Familiarity with Python, BigQuery, Postgres, Redis, TypeScript and Docker
- You've dealt with the realities of production data — schema evolution, late-arriving records, messy sources
- Some exposure to machine learning pipelines or feature engineering
Bonus points
- LLMs (Claude, Gemini) and building data pipelines that feed them
- PyTorch or similar ML frameworks
- Security fundamentals — OWASP, OAuth, SAML
- Integrations with Linear, JIRA or similar
